Need parents of: (James) Garfield McIntire b. ca 1875-80 PA or OH, married Lydia Kisling had one son, Robert b. Jan 1902 in Mansfield, Richland Co., OH. They divorced no later than 1910. Lydia remarried to George Dinges and was his 2nd wife. Although no adoption records have been located, the 1910 census lists Robert as the adopted son of George. Garfield moved to the Los Angeles area and his will was entered 17 Dec 1934. He had lived for a few years with an Edna Van Houten who cared for him and he died at her home. The attorney's letter referenced him as James Garfield McIntyre and also referenced a Lawrence McIntyre, also of Mansfield Ohio, who we believe to be a brother. Lawrence was born in 1871 in PA. This is of interest to me as my McIntyre's emigrated from Donegal (village of Montcharles, and also of Donegal town) in late 1800's, and my research indicates there were relatively few McIntyre's in Donegal. The family even ran a rather small "McIntyre Hotel" in Montcharles, the building still stands. Anyway, I'd be interested in seeing if there is some connection. Sincerely, Tom McIntyre <tomandeddi@excite.com>

I would appreciate any information on the McIntire family,. Thanks, Frances

He had a daughter Mary Ann McIntire b Feb 12, 1830 in Indiana who married Andrew Gillaspie b Feb 12, 1796. This was his 2nd marraige (first was to Minerva Nichols). There was a posting on Patrick McIntire, his sons, Philip J., James H., and John McIntire that said it was from me which I did not post and the information is incorrect. Patrick McIntire was born in Ireland, immigrated to Baltimore, Maryland and died there in 1882. He was my great grandfather. I have found no record of his burial nor his death certificate. All I was able to locate was him and his wife and children in the 1880 Baltimore, Maryland Census, Him in the 1881 Baltimore City Directory, and a obit stating his death in the Baltimore Sun Newspaper. His sons, James H. and Philip J. are buried in the New Cathedral Cemetery not were the posted letter said. I have both their death certificates and confirmation from the cemetery. John McIntire appearred in the 1880 Census only and never appearred again although Patrick's wife Ellen Donahue McIntire Banaghan appears with her second husband, Michael Banagahan in the 1900 Baltimore, Maryland Census which shows she had 11 children with only three living at that time. I have no idea where John or his father Patrick are buried. I have been researching this family for many years and have posted in the past trying to learn more from anyone doing research on the same family. I do not appreciate someone using my e-mail address and posting false information in my name. Anita McIntire Dare

I find names and addresses of family and then go to the census records for more info. I also learned to note anyone who is has a family name. This sometimes saves time when you find a link later. I noted this James Mcintire family because my family with the same name is in the area even though I don't know if they are related. I may find they actually are. Anyway the James you are interested in is in the 1910 Marshall co. Wv census, Union District, McMechen, house No./family 198. He was son of Elmer And Ella Mcintire with other children. I have also learned to consider not only first names, but middle names and nick names as well. Hope this helps. Good luck and maybe we are related somehow. My Mcintires at this s! ame time period were Theodore Ellsworth and Ella (Yost) Mcintire. Another suggestion is go to rootsweb search engine and type in Mcintire. I found that someone already has quit a history of Ella's family, saving me lots of time. All I have to do is verify the info. Deb

I am new to this process and would appreciate any guidance on how to collect the information myself. Thanks for your time and interest, Liz Clayton
