    1. [McIntire] George Wash.McIntire b.1837 Vt. or Va.
    2. I am looking for a George Washington McIntire(MacIntire,McEntyre, etc.) who by family history was born in Virginia, but on the 1880 census in California is listed as being born in Vermont,of parents both born in Vermont. I don't know if the Vt. was supposed to be Va. or not! The name is spelled various ways by the family, and on the census. This makes searching very difficult! Does he sound familiar to anyone? He was in California by the early 1860's. I am looking for his parents. Jeremie Blanchard Roach

He later moved to Noble County, IN in the mid-late 1830's. After 1840 went to Van Buren County, and then to Wapello County, IA. Died there February 12, 1863. Did he serve in War of 1812? There are several enlistments from Ohio for a Joseph McIntire, but no firm ties yet (Joseph is too common a name.) Also is it possible he is the son of Thos. Mcintire and Betsy Helm who were married 19 Jan 1792 in Nelson County, KY? The date of marriage, state of KY are right for "my" Joseph, but I thought it might be possible.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xkz.2ACEB/252.2.1.1 Message Board Post: I personally have never come across the name "Josiah" in regards to my McIntire line, but that doesn't mean a whole lot, because I've had alot of trouble tracking this line down anyway. It would seem though that your "Josiah" is not of my line, because my McIntire line gave the sons very common names-Robert, William, Andrew, Thomas, Jesse etc (also very Scottish names) Josiah is a very Bibical name, common for the time period, and because there are preachers in your family, it makes sense, but it isn't a name that I've run across in most of the Scot families I've researched. There are alot of other McIntire families in the area around Harrison Co, Indiana in the early 1800's. There are also McIntire's in Hardin Co, KY for this time period. You did not say where in Virginia your people are from, but a good place to look is Frederick Co. Virginia. Alot of the Scots came out of Frederick Co VA into Logan and Nelson Co. Kentucky and then spread from there. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck in your research...Cheryl

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xkz.2ACEB/252.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Shirley, I have never been successful in finding the parents of William McIntire. I have information on my line thru son Robert (c.1790-182) and also some information on Jesse McIntire (1799-1851), that I'm more than willing to share. I have corresponded with two of Jesse's descendants, one of them, John Mason, believes that William McIntire was from Andrew McIntire's line thru son James. The other person hadn't gotten back very far on the McIntire line, but had information on the Linder line. I have seen the information about the possiblity of Nicholas McIntire being William's father and there was a Nicholas McIntire who married a Sally Linder 2 April 1819 in Hardin Co. Kentucky, so I leaned more towards Nicholas than I did towards Andrew and James, but all the information is so up in the air. The male names that keep reappearing in Robert and Jesse's lines are no help at all as they are Robert, William, James, Andrew, David, Thomas - all very common names, but no Nicholas, so I'm back to square one. My Robert only had two sons, Robert and William and four daughters Arminda, Charlotte, Elizabeth and MaryAnn Margaret (my line). I would like to exchange more informtion with you and would really like to know more about your Richard. Please e-mail me at <Jwinche910@AOL.com> Thanks...Cheryl

Josiah and Lucy had four daughters (I don't know names) and two sons, Joe and Thomas, born June 23, 1779.
