This was posted on the " Somebody's Links, Vol. 4, No. 4" Newletter, an internet newsletter for those trying to find homes for 'lost' photos and manuscripts. I thought that I would pass this along in hope that one of the subscribers to this list could be linked to these photos. Good Luck. Mike McIntier mmcintier@cox.net I was allowed to have professional copies made of about 100 photos of family members dating from the mid-1800s to the mid- 1930s. My cousin's executor has the originals. These are eastern North Carolina families and include WILLIAMS, McINTIRE, SWINSON, and NEWELL individuals, all of whom I have identified. I will be more than willing to share copies of these photos with interested persons whose backgrounds include New Hanover, Duplin, Sampson, and Pender counties. My only request is that you explain your interest. J. J. Franks Franksjj@aol.com
Someone sent an e-mail last week that began: "Bert and Ann - I had pulled this off..." It continued with data for Charles McIntire and descendants, which I was happy to receive. I've tried to reply but seem to have accidentally deleted the e-mail address from the message. Please don't give up on me but just send me another short e-mail so I can get the address! (There was an address for Richard Pearson, but my message was returned.) Thanks. ===== Anne Wollmann-Storey Vienna, Austria __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Not to put a damper on the flurry of posts we've had over the last few days, but a reminder that the 20th of March will be our next post-a-thon party. To celebrate the birthday of a great MacIntyre please get ready to post your Mc questions queries or quagmires during the week from St Patricks day to the birthday of Duncan Bain Macintyre. Duncan Bain Macintyre, Scottish Gaelic poet, born 03/20/1724 For more. First paragraph from http://www.slainte.org.uk/scotauth/macindsw.htm Duncan Ban Macintyre, Donnchcadh Ban Mac an t-Saoir, was born in Glenorchy in 1724 and died in Edinburgh in 1812. In 1746 he was present at the Battle of Falkirk about which he wrote a humorous poem. He lost his sword at the battle in which he fought though perhaps not with great conviction on the government side against Prince Charles. The poet never learned to read or write and had to trust his memory for the reproduction of his own compositions. The Rev. Donald MacNicol, Minister of Lismore, helped with the transcription of the poems. Regards to all. Peter McEntyre List Administrator.

Bert, You are probably descended from Charles McIntire (1724-1783), an early settler in Virginia who founded quite a clan, many of whom settled in Harrison and Tyler Counties, WV. If my suspicions are correct, you are descended from Charles's son John, who with his wife Rachel Rose, was scalped by Indians in 1791. I have a William Raleigh McIntire, born 1855 at Big Run, Tyler County WV, died January 1940, buried Alvy WV, married Rebecca Costilow on 1 Aug 1975. I don't have the name of any children, but William's father was Henderson McIntyre (b 3 July 1833 in Harrison Co WV, d 25 Oct 1872), married to Mary Lemasters (b 12 May 1836 in Indiana, d 10 Aug 1901). Both Henderson and Mary are buried at Big Run Cemetery. Henderson's father was Joseph McIntire (1784-1845), and his mother Mary Glover (1782-1867). Joseph's parents were the hapless John and Rachel, mentioned in the first paragraph above. Although I am also descended from Charles, my line is through John's brother William McIntire. I can send you more information if you wish. Also, if you search in Google for John McIntire and Rachel Rose, you will find interesting information about the Indian attack, which was one of the last in those parts.
