    3. The main McIntyre list will be have its bi-annual post-a-thon the week of September 2 finishing September 9; in memory of St Ciaran of Ireland the earliest recorded MacAntSaoir we've found so far. Please be ready to post your research interest. For those on the other lists. McIntire McEntire McEntyre You may want to switch to the main list before then. Send a subscribe post to MCINTYRE-D-request@rootsweb.com for digest mode or MCINTYRE-L-request@rootsweb.com for the one at a time posts. Need help subscribing? Email me and I'll do it for you. I would first advise joining the McIntyre mailing list as it is bigger at the moment and until it gets too big will be the better place list to mail your queries. There are currently 4 lists catering to this name. I'm trying to convert every body onto the main McIntyre list as spelling of this name is not a major factor when we look at the history of this name. Spelling variations have occurred throughout the generations based on geography, mistakes, differentiation between family members with the same first name and how the person writing the name decided to spell it based on their own spelling abilities. Throughout my life people have mispelt my name. Now I don't care so much. Don't be proud of the weird spelling you have just get on the main list and let's find our cousins. Kind regards: Peter McEntyre List manager of McEntyre McIntyre & McIntire http://www.ceres.dti.ne.jp/~pyms/index.htm

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xkz.2ACEB/197.202.204.208 Message Board Post: The David McIntire you are referring to is probably David Shepard McIntire. He was born at Ft Henry Wheeling West Virginia. His father William McIntire was killed and scalped by Indians near limestone KY. His mother was Elizabeth Shepard, daughter of Col David Shepard, who commanded the Virginia Militia during the Rev. War. Sometime after the war, David Shepard Mcintire took his family by flatboat down the Ohio from Wheeling and stopped at Powhattan Pt at the mouth of Captina Creek. From there he took his family up the creek about 2 to 3 miles to Stienersville. He had married Katherine Bonar. One of his daughter's, Jane McIntire married Nelson Newton Mallory. A son, Silas married Charlotte Hurley. Charlotte's sister, Jane Hurley, married John Brown and daughter Eleanor Brown married Nelson Newton Mallory's brother Dewitt Clinton Mallory. Another Mallory brother, Benjamin R Mallory married Ellen Miller. Mary Miller married Jacob Tschappat. Benjamin w! as later living with GH Tschappat at age 81 "grandfather" Grandson Chester E Mallory had married Bessie A Tschappat Note: Jacob Tschappat was early settler in Monroe Co. “In april, 1819, ten German and Swiss families embarked on a flatboat on the Aar River at Berne under the leadership of Jacob Tisher. They descended the Aar River to the Rhine and continued to the city of Antwerp where they boarded a French ship, Eugenius, for New York. After traveling 48 days, they landed at Amboy, New Jersey, where they purchased teams with six of the families starting to travel to Wheeling, West Virginia. The little colony now consisted of Father Jacob Tisher, Abraham Tisher, Jacob Tschappat, Daniel Franhauser, Nichols Frankhauser, Jacob Marit (together with their families) and Jacob Nisperli, single. After a tedious journey, they reached Wheeling and again embarked on a flatboat, their destination being the Great Kanawa River. Upon landing at the mouth of Captina Creek, they found two Pennsylvannia Germans, George Goetz and Henry Sweppe, who told them that there was plenty of Government land in Monroe County. Part of the colony was induced to stay. Housing room was not available for everyone. On September 15, Father Tisher and part of his little band continued further down the River to Bare’s landing, a distance of seventeen miles. Jacob Bare, an early settler from Maryland, could speak German and received them kindly, persuading them to settle there. Thus, the two bands, at the same time, began the first German-Swiss settlements in Monroe County, one party being in Switzerland Twp and the other in Ohio Twp. On the Hill in Salem Twp (now Switzerland Twp), Daniel Mallett built a log cabin. This improvement was purchased by Jacob Tschappat, Sr, who moved the same fall. The other band settled on Congressional land the following spring….. History of Monroe Co Ohio Note: Jacob W Tschappat, probably son of Jacob W Tschappat and Mary J Miller, died in a home accident at age 55 Mt Vernon, Knox Co Ohio. 4 Oct 1925 d 27 May 1891. There is a very good McIntire site on line which will probably give you the ancestors of Eliza.... http://geocities.com/edianmoore/ The children of Nelson Newton mallory and Jane McIntire received a small portion of Col David Shepard's estate...it was held up in court for many decaded and was settled until many of Shepard's grandchildren were already deceased. If you are interested in the Mallory line I would love to hear from you. Regards, Mallory Smith

The names of his parents are not known. It is known that Robert had a brother, John. The McIntires migrated from Maryland to Red Stone Old Fort (now Brownsville), Youghageney Co., Va. 2. I'm looking for the parents of Thomas Howard McIntire ( 1831-1910), Enterprise, WV, married Hannah Hardesty (1836-1861) Enterprise WV. They had one child who survived Alice Virgina (1860-1937) who married James Laulis (1858-1939). Family history has Thomas Howard McIntire directly related to John and Rose Mcintire who were killed in Indian attack and Charles McIntire who was one of the founders of Enterprise but I can't find the connection. There may be a connection because the family possesses the land grant given Samuel McIntire on 7/22/1788 for land on the West Fork signed by James Monroe, Gov. of Virginia. Thanks, Harriet Beckert
