It's certainly beginning to look as if this whole lot who ended up in Pendleton SC and Macon Co. NC were in PA together. Haven't proven it yet, but it's looking as if my McClure and possibly Kimsey lines may be headed back that way. Meanwhile, let me add a little to your files. Rozine Strain's parents were Andrew Strain and Mary, first thought to be Reed, but the last I heard, probably not.I'm descended from their daughter, Sarah (Sallie), who m. James Kimsey -- I've got their descendants well-documented, and will be glad to forward that information to you, if you like. Let me know, and I'll email it to you rather than posting a lot of non-McIntire information on the site. Thanks again -- great website! Judy
Thanks Susan for the links to the Archives. There are 4 lists as far as I know. I manage 3 of them. The other lists are not as busy as this one and I recommend that everybody be at least on this list. MCINTYRE This seems to be the most common spelling in the world these days. If you want to subscribe to the other lists, please do so. Make sure that you use this list as the main one and encourage people on the other lists to join this one as well. Some people on the McIntire list seem to ignore my pleas for them to be on the McIntyre list. They are missing out on a lot of posts and possible connections. McIntire is a purely American spelling. The further you go back in your research the more likely you are to find that it was spelt McIntyre or MacIntyre. People who only research the McE... or McInti... spellings are wasting their time. McIntyre list has about 229 members now. McIntire has 91. The McEntyre list that I manage has 49 members. I don't know about the McEntire list as I don't have access to it. Unfortunately all the lists run independently and cannot be linked. You have to join each one separately. McIntyre is the best and biggest list, so if that is the list you are on then I'd just stick with that list. If I were on the other lists only, I'd want to subscribe to the McIntyre list for my main source of information and contacts. To subscribe to the other lists. I do not know his whereabouts in the interim, though there were Matthew Russells in Abbeville Dist., SC and and Lunenburg Co., VA. in 1820. If his death occurred in Macon Co., NC, then that would seem to argue against residence in Lunenburg Co., VA. That there was a son named Mathew is proven by the will of Mathew Sr.: Matthew Russell. Jane McIntire Russell died 1781 and is buried at Long Creek Presbyterian Church near Bessemer City, NC, next to her son-in-law, James T. Could be my McIntire traveled to New Bern to enlist. His war pension application indicates he served from 1 May 1864 to 16 Aug 1865.
