The family story is that several brothers came to America from Scotland and of course we can't find anything to documents it. Here's what we do know In 1720 James MaGlohan purchased 150 acres of land with 3000 lbs of tobacco in Bertie Co., NC. It was witnessed by his father Jeremiah Glohan ( I believe Jeremiah to be his father but he could possibly be his brother Jeremiah -he had a brother Jeremiah we believe) Now in my mind I don't think he raised 3000 lbs of tobacco in Scotland and brought it to America. He must have worked or owned land somewhere to have tobacco to trade for land. Wouldn't he? But there are no more records of MaGlohan or Glohan before these two listed below. 1720 - JAMES MAGLOHAN, PLANTER (WIT. JER. I sent them a message and asked them just how do they know that and where is the research pertaining to the fact that they claim us as part of their Clan. Well of course they don't know why just that we are a part of the Clan McLachlan Which helps us none. As far as we can find which is nothing before 1720 they got a fairy from Ireland and he sent them over. Which is another question. Some of us think we're Irish or Scots who moved to Ireland and then to America. Then there are groups of us who think we are full blooded Scots and no Irish mixed in with it. I don't care which it is, although my father always said we were Scottish. I would just like to find what ship they came over on and when and where FROM. You can see the different variations of our name below mine. Any tiny little tidbit of help would be wonderful and greatly appreciated. There are about 60 of us online in our McGlaughon Mail list and I personally have been searching every ship I can find and have never found any clue. I promise I will appreciate and Thank anyone who decides to help us. Thank You, (hope I didn't offend anyone in anyway) Vicki Vicki McGlaun Culpepper McGlaughon Mail List Owner Proud Rootsweb Sponsor McGlaughon MyFamily.com site Glohon/MaGlohon/Maglauhan/MeGlohon/McGlauhon/McGlohon/McGlohan/ McGlaughon/MeGlaehan/McGlawn/McGlawhorn/McGlaun/McGlaughn/ McGlaune/McGlon/McLawhorn Vicki Vicki McGlaun Culpepper McGlaughon Mail List Owner Proud Rootsweb Sponsor McGlaughon MyFamily.com site Glohon/MaGlohon/Maglauhan/MeGlohon/McGlauhon/McGlohon/McGlohan/ McGlaughon/MeGlaehan/McGlawn/McGlawhorn/McGlaun/McGlaughn/ McGlaune/McGlon/McLawhorn/
