    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: McFarland, Carter, Snodgrass, Hinshaw Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FG0.2ACIB/955.1.1 Message Board Post: Just out of curiousity, Shannon, which McFarlands are you kin to in Texas. In the 1850 the first wave of McFarland's settled in East Texas, Smith, and surrounding counties. My McFarland's didn't arrive until the mid to late 1880's in Smith County. Although I had other relations that had been there for at least 2 or more generations. (Carter, Snodgrass, and Hinshaw) I am looking for connections in the families.. I believe my orginial Alexander McFarland actually came from Pennsylvania,to North Carolina, and then Tennessee. Tennessee is where my great grandfather, Alexander Miller McFarland was born and his wife, Susannah C. Wood. They left Tennesse late 1860-1861 and spent the Civil War in Indiana, then on to Wisconsin for a few years, moved on to Iowa and had the rest of their children before settling in Flint, Smith County, Texas. Some of the North Carolina McFarland son's moved to Kentucky, Missouri and maybe Georgia. If any of this sounds familiar or you would like to see if we have a personal connection please eamail me directly and/or post a message here. Susie McFarland Lemin
