I enjoy buying lovely old pictures like these in antique shops with names on the back, and photographer’s locations on the front, and locating descendants/family members so that I can re-unite the pictures, for only my costs, with people who will treasure them The name on the back is “Henry Russell McFarland”. The picture was taken by a professional photographer named Hodges Art Gallery, 529 State St., Bristol, Tennessee. Bristol is in Sullivan Co. The photo was taken in approx.1895 (my estimate). Henry is posed, is cleanshaven, wearing a shirt, tie, vest and coat, and he looks to be about age 22 give or take a few years. The picture is 4-½” x 6”, and is an original, on heavy card stock, as was typical during that time period. The photo is itself in excellent condition, however the cardboard frame around it has the beginning of some water-based mold, which can easily be cared for. If Henry R. McFarland is in your family, or if you can relate to the McFarland family of Bristol, TN in about that time frame, please Email me directly at margerice@prodigy.net.
