My grandmother's name was Ozella Margaret McFarland and her mother's name was Clara. I have never seen my grandma's name anywhere and was curious about how similar your grandmother's name is. In addition, John McFarland was my grandma's grandfather (b. c1830's). I tried to email you and it was returned. Please respond here or I can be reached at: donnabruce@jps.net. Blessings and good luck with your family search.

Surnames: Gazaway/Gasaway Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FG0.2ACIB/853.1.1 Message Board Post: Dear Evelyn: No Strudivants in my family that I know of. There was a Gazaway Davis who lived in Columbia co, GA, and next to his property was Rachel McFarland. There was a Rachel who I believe to be my Gazaway's mother, but this Rachel would have been too old. Plus, Gazaway Davis only had a daughter - no sons. I found a community of surnamed Gazaways and wrote to one and got a reply, "We're all related in the eyes of God." That didn't help. I believe my Rachel was surnamed Jones of Jones Co., Ga., who married there James McFarland. I found a couple by that name in Tuscaloosa Co., Ala. They later lived in Fayette Co., Ala. The courthouse there burned by somebody who got angry about something. The records there are poor, but look on the US census. A lot of people from Tusc.Co moved there. Also, look in Greene Co., Ala. I'll be on the lookout for you Gazaway. Sorry I'm not much help.
