McFarland who was in Marion County, IN in the early 1800s. I am actually researching the Henry & Elizabeth Cox family from the same area, but the McFarlands that were there are a family of great interest for me, as well. This is why ..... Henry Cox died in Indianapolis, Marion County, IN around 1829. His widow, Elizabeth, died between 7 May 1830 and 17 Jul 1831. They left children: Margaret b bef 1817 Martha b abt 1822 John b abt 1823 Elizabeth b abt 1825 Henrietta b abt 1827 John CLOW filed for guardianship of the children in 1831, but it was awarded to George TAFFE and James McFARLAND instead. One note I have, states that guardianship of Elizabeth and Henrietta (who, I believe, is my 3GG) was given to James and (I thought at the time) "Jonas" McFarland...... But in all my research, I have never found a Jonas McFarland in Marion County. So, I tend to think now, that it was actually Demas that was named in the probate document. My Henrietta Cox was born in 1827 at Indianapolis. She was married in Johnson County, IA in 1846. Is there anything at all that you can tell me about James McFarland? Do you know where he lived after he left Marion county by about 1838? Do you have any mention of the Cox children.? Did Demas have any children? Any help in locating info about James and demas, would be much appreciated! Thanks

I do have information on Mary (Polly) McFarland, daughter of James C. McFarland and Rebecca (Caroline) Rule. Her siblings were many as James C. had at least 3 wives and maybe 4 as I am not certain of the relationship of Elizabeth Rule. She could be the same as Rebecca or a sister that married James C. also. No one has been able to actually sort out the children and step children of James and his wives. If you put them in cronological order (this best way possible) he produced children for ALMOST 40 years and had grandchildren the same age of his own younger children. His son Wesley is one of Mary's brothers and I am descended through him. Wesley's son Alexander Miller ended up in Iowa where Mary and Lloyd Bradley were living. My grandfather, Frank was born in 1882 in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. Feel free to contact me at slemin46@yaoo.com
