I saw an exhibit for Sherman D. McElroy "Tex," (1871-1945) pioneer oil man from Arkansas and wondered who he was. I collected and did a search. He was the 3rd of 11 children of William and Mary C. McIlroy. They moved to Hood Co., TX and settled on a farm near tolar, ten miles west of Granberry. He married Kathryn Byrd.I did find that his grandfather was: a..
