Did John have a son Samuel born about 1800? Samuel had a son named John (maybe after father or uncle??) born 1830. I do not know where they originally lived. I had this family bible passed down thru my Step-grandfather, his family in the 1900-1930 lived in Pittsburgh, PA area. This Samuel McElroy married Ann Beamish in 1822 and had 8 children. Maybe this could be a link? or at least give you names to search. Linda Gorby
