Maryann, I've never quite understood the purpose of this "preferred" archives search. The messages only go back to March 2000 and you can only find what you are looking for if you remember the date, the subject line and the author...or have I really missed something over the years? I have found a much better way to search any mailing list archives to be the following rootsweb search engine. http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl You enter the mailing list name, then whatever keyword(s) you are searching for. This archives goes back to the beginning of the mailing list (McElroy-L began in 1999)and gives you the opportunity to pull up all messages that contain the keyword, which may be a related surname, location, author, etc. Marc ----- Original Message ----- From: <Mdmgen@aol.com> To: <MCELROY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: October 14, 2002 12:58 AM Subject: [MCELROY-L] Check out RootsWeb Mailing List Archives | This is the preferred address for the Rootsweb Archives. | | Click here: RootsWeb Mailing List Archives | http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ | | Maryann Dixon Moseby | List Admin. | | | ==== MCELROY Mailing List ==== | Remember it will help if you post in the subject line, the primary name, area of interest and dates, when making a query.
