Hi, I have run into this question before. I am descended from Archibald McElroy, brother to Abigail, known as Gilly. Born 1788 in Wake Co NC, lived with family in Lincoln Co., married John Brown Buchanan about 1812, moved to Obion Co TN and from there at some point to TX. death sometime after 1860. I recalled some years ago someone had questions about her and I found they had a different Buchanan than I had. After living in Obion Co, probably not for very many years, she moved to TX. I have searched in the Obion Co census records and never found her. I assumed she moved after 1850 to Obion Co and from there before 1860. My gggrandmother, her niece and also a sister of hers, also moved to Obion Co sometime after 1850. They could have all moved there at the same time. I think the lady with whom I communicated some years ago wrote back and said she found she had a younger Abigail who married the other Buchanan. Not really certain but hope this helps. My material came from another descendent of the McElroys and also I found it in the library at Lincoln Co. TN.
