I have been working on this line for about nine years now with no luck. This is my line below - note that my McElroys are in the Boston area and I notice that most of you have lines that generate from anyplace but Mass. I am looking for Benjamin's parents and grandparents. 1. Benjamin McElroy b: Abt. 1780 d: 09 October 1813 - Boston, MA : m Lydia Davenport 01 May 1803 in Dorchester, MA 2. Samuel Davenport McElroy b: March 1804 d: 11 August 1849 - Dorchester: m Hannah Holden Cushing 14 September 1825 Dorchester 3. Lucy Hannah McElroy b: 26 August 1826 d: 06 November 1904 Dorchester: m John Brackett Rumery 04 June 1846 in Dorchester, MA Benjamin was a harness maker by trade and lived on Mason St in Boston. Have had absolutely no luck and he is a 'brick wall' for me. Benjamin's father may have also been named Benjamin and may have served during the Revolution as a Private. However, National Archives could not locate his records. I believe McElroy is a hard name to trace in New England. I found an Agnis and Robert McElroy that I have listed below who would have been in Boston in the 1600-1700's. I have been unable to find any further records on them, but I do believe that they are related in some way to my Benjamin. Records of South Church, Dedham MA April 20, 1748 - Died Agnis McElroy the wife of Robert McElroy, aged about 70 years (pg 163) This would make her birthdate about 1678 August 26, 1758 Died Robert McElroy aged 82 years of thereabouts (pg 164) This would make his birthdate about 1676. Does anyone have any of the above in their data files? Thank you Pat Thayer
