Hello, I am working on my fathers line of McElroys, various spellings I have found in this search such as: Mkelroey, Macelroy, McElroy, Mc Elroy, McIlroy. The first ancestor is my grandfather Charles Howard born to Josephine (Bertrand) McElroy and Edward McElroy in Ohio. I have Edward and family in a 1900 Ashtabula county census, then I have Edward, Josephine, Edna, and their son Cecil in a 1920 Colorado census, then I have josephine McElroy's death in the california death index but have lost Edward somehwere and some of their kids. Edward's father was Samuel McElroy who married an Elizabeth Brown, Samuel was born About 1832 in fairfield township, westmoreland county PA, and married Elizabeth in Jackson County, Ohio. Samuels Parents were James II McElroy born in ligonier valley, Pennsylvania and he married a Ruth Nesbit they relocated around 1835 to Northfield township, Portage County Ohio. I have lost track of them after this time. James II McElroys parents were James Macelroey/McElroy and Betsy Douglas who settled in Ligonier Valley, Pennsylvania. James I died between 1800-1810 and Betsy died between 1810-1820 their children that I know of were: Joseph Alexander, John Douglas McElroy, Mary, James II, and an Unknown that died between 1810-820. Anyone on this McElroy line have anything pertaining to this family? I am willing to share all that i've gathered as well. THankyou for reading this, Rebecca McElroy
