There is a large Civil War monument downtown in front of the Renaissance Hotel which has a display area inside. The walls are covered with engraved names of the men who participated from Cuyahoga County ( the county where Cleveland sits ) and among them was a McElroy. I don't remember any more information as to his name, but thought that I would mention it here in case you or others are interested. It may have been a James, though not necessarily your James. To make it easier to find this name and the unit to which he was assigned, his name is listed on the side OPPOSITE the entrance, on the RIGHT-hand side. If I remember correctly, it is a couple of panels from the right, on about the middle portion of the panel. Mark McLeroy Appling, Georgia
