I think it is probably time for us to refresh the list with information on our lines. The lists are both very slow right now and we have had several new subscribers in the last few weeks. I will start it off: WAKEFIELD: While the WAKEFIELD branch of my family has been pretty well documented by other Genealogists, I am still looking for proof to support the information supplied. My line starts from John WAKEFIELD b. abt. 1598. Married Mary UNKNOWN abt. 1613 in Kent, England. This line is followed through several generations to Barnet Hamilton WAKEFIELD (m. Lucy Goodwin abt. 1820) and his daughter Christiana Elizabeth, b. abt. 1823 in VA. McELROY/WAKEFIELD: Christiana Elizabeth WAKEFIELD married my gggrandfather Davis O. McELROY/McLEROY April 27, 1840 in Franklin Co., TN. Davis was born abt. 1812 in NC or GA. (It is possible that Davis had also married Mary Anna TATE February 27, 1834 in Green KY). I haven't documented the TATE marriage but it is listed in the IGI. In 1859, three years after the death of Davis, C. Elizabeth was married to Isaac Henderson HALL October 26, 1859 also in FCT. They had an addition four children. C. Elizabeth WAKEFIELD and Davis McELROY / McLEROY parented at least five children in FCT that I have been able to document. They are: Mary McELROY b. 1844, Sarah b. 1846, Zachariah b. 1848, John H. b. 1851, and last but not least is my ggrandfather, James Owen Wakefield McELROY b. 1856 (the same year his father died). James O. W. first married Rutha A. SCIVALLY on September 28, 1872. They apparently parented one child: William Davis McELROY b. July 12, 1874 in FCT. I don't know what happened to Rutha, but then James married M. J.(Mattie) HALL (b. Jan. 1853) in Winchester, FCT. They parented at least 10 children as well as raising William Davis McELROY. James and Mattie were my ggrandparents through their daughter Mary Elizabeth (Mollie) McELROY b. May 12, 1878 in FCT. Mollie married George Wesley BUCHANAN (b. October 17, 1872 in Yell Co., AR) on May 27, 1896 in Montegue Co., TX. My grandparents had twelve children and raised ten. My mother, the oldest daughter, Martha Ann BUCHANAN b. Nov. 21, 1899 in Cloud Chief, Washita Co., OK. This pretty well gives you an idea of my ancestry as far as I have the information. However, I have also been assured that Davis's parents were William McELROY, b. abt. 1780, m. January 14, 1801 in Oglethorpe Co., GA to Mary ARNOLD b. September 05, 1785 VA d/o Zachariah ARNOLD and Nancy BEASLEY. I am pursuing that link, but have been unable to prove it to my satisfaction. I do know that the mother of Davis was named Mary. She is listed in the Census living with Davis and again with C. Elizabeth after Davis's death and again in Davis's Will. I also found a William McELROY that married Mary ARNOLD in Oglethorpe Co., GA on January 14, 1801. Can anyone provide me with anymore information that might help me with this family? I will appreciate any information that I can follow up on to prove my information - or to disprove it. Well, who will be the next to give us the information on their families?
