Cont. Line; issued 10 Aug. 1785; 914 acres; issued 11 April 1823. On 26 Jan. 1825 Henry Dance for Ethelred Dance, assigned the same to William Barron, with R. M. McElroy a witness. Samuel H. Nelm, clerk of Perry Co., Alabama, court certified that Ransom McCLROY or McELROY acknowledged the deed before him. Sumner County: Page 280 - Marriage Records: Alexander McElroy Polley Elliott 6-Jan. 1806 Signed by William Davis and Alex McELROY Original Grants: Page 121: McELAY, James, private; 400 acres; 14 April 1792, at hillsborough. Grant no. not given Wilson Co. Page 315 Marriage Records: Hugh McELYEA Polly McELYEA 2 Sept. 1806 Evan's Battalion: Page 218 Author's Note: In an old grant book on file in the Land Office at Nashville, the pay roll of Evans Battalion was found in the back. This company was established for the protection of the Cumberland Settlement and gives the names of some of the earliest settlers . . . Captain Joshua Hadley's Company Page 221 A: Pvt. Jas. McEYEA.
