Diane, Sorry, I cannot help you at this time. Indeed, my family also came from Ireland/Scotland but it was with a John McElroy. I think he had a brother or relative named James, but I have not looked into that as it has not been relevant. If I ever get around to looking deeper, I'll give you a note. Good luck Tom -----Original Message----- From: Harvey and Diane [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, July 06, 2000 21:00 To: [email protected] Subject: [MCELROY-L] OHIO MCELROYS Hi List Members: I am new to this list and I am researching my gg-grandmothers line in Belmont County,OH. The family lived in Bellaire, and what I know follows: My gg-grandmother was Martha Jane McElroy. She was born 8-1-1860. She married James Boston Roush 12-3-1876. They had 8 children. Martha died 10-31-1897. Martha's parents came from Cookstown, County Tyrone, Ireland. They came to the US around 1855/56. Mothers maiden name was Mary Jane Moore. There was at least one child at that time. His name was Samuel McElroy. He also lived in Bellaire. Other names were Lizzie, b.1862, Rachel, b.1867, Samuel, b.unk. Most of the family is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, (used to be called Rose Hill), in Bellaire, OH. Is anyone else researching this family? Would love to exchange information.
