My McElroy line is as follows My great great Grandmother was Sarah McElroy(Nov 1847-July 1925)she married William L Acuff((Jan 1842-Feb 1898) in 1871 in Van Buren Co. TN. They raised a family there and are buried in the McElroy Cemetary there. Sarah McElroy was the daughter of Andrew J. McElroy(April 1820-around 1890) and his first wife Jane Webb(1825 in White Co. TN-Dec 1869) Andrew J. McElroy's parents were Andrew McElroy(1791-1864) and Martha Shropshire(1786-1868). Andrew and Martha were married in Oglethorpe Co. GA (March 1,1811) and moved to Warren Co. TN soon after. For a time they operated a Ferry across the Caney Fork River which I've heard was used by the Stage Line. I do not have any info prior to Andrew McElroy and Martha Shropshires marriage in GA. Would be glad to hear from anyone interested in the same lines. Thanks Marie C.
