I'm looking for anyone connected to Capt. John MCELROY b:1807 S.C. d: Sept. 1855 Tippah County,MS. He married a Matilda BERRY. Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks,Nancy
I looked at all the Johns I have - and there are a LOT - at least the ones whose names start with John. The nearest I could find was born in 1805, died 1886 in GA. No Matilda Berry One of Isaac, son of Avington's daughters, Jane Muckleroy, married a Box. They did lived in Tippah Co., MS. There are some younger children of Isaac, father of Jane who are not definitely identified. I don't know of a John. Isaac was in South Carolina with his father Avington, when he married Sarah Floyd. They returned to Oglethorpe Co., GA and thence to Franklin Co., TN. The Boxes moved on to Tippah Co., MS after that, probably around the 1830s. They also lived in Chickasaw and Houston Co., MS.
