Surnames: McElroy Classification: Marriage Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hF0.2ACIB/573.1.2.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Do you ever see the name Browne(e) McElroy in any of your records, this my grandfather, I am of mixed heritage, and I would like to know for sure, my grandfather was Irish, my grandmother was Cherokee Indian, They were from Mississippi and Alabama, I find nothing on my folks in the Social Security Death Index, and to me this is very strange, Brown(e) McElroy died in 1940, my father, his son,was killed in 1944 by a bus in Sumpter County, Alabama.And I find nothing else.Thanks, if you ever heard of this McElroy, please let me know! I was surprised as the volume of McElroy's in Alabama, and no one ever heard of my grandfather?They probable dis-owned him because h married out of his race, we know how it was in those days, discrimination was law.
