Hi, List! This is my first post here on MCELROY after many great years on the rootsweb.com surname boards. I'm hoping for good luck with this query, as the data that led to it was difficult to get and took years to extract. Recently, I learned from my newfound 1st Cousin, once removed, that our CURTIN grandfather, Lawrence CURTIN, was one of five brothers who abt 1885 left Ireland on a ship destined for the USA and Australia. Lawrence CURTIN and one of his brothers (name unknown) disembarked in NYC, NY, but the other three (names unknown) went to Australia. My cousin's direct oral history as told to her by her father, Lawrence's son, William CURTIN, states that once in Australia, the CURTIN brothers married into the MCELROY family and became sheepmen. At this moment, the above tale is legend; I'm hoping to back it up with some facts. Can anyone on the MCELROY list help me? I practice data reciprocity, which means I give back as much data as I receive, so please know I'm good for whatever assistance I can give to a fellow family researcher. Looking forward to hearing from you! Sincerely, Livy at Genuspecies@aol.com
