My Ggrandfather Bernard McElroy and his brother Daniel, lived with or next door to a Robert McElroy in the 1860s. The nearest church was Church of the Immaculate Conception on 414 E 14th St. I suspected Robert was married there to Elizabeth, and they probably had several baptisms there. My objective is to prove Robert is another brother. Today I received a great surprise. First I opened the baptism of Anne McElroy child of Robert & "LIZZIE" Born Dec 2, 1865 and Sponsored by Daniel McElroy and Anne O'Neil. The second and bigger success is the marriage of Robert and Lizzie Stephens on June 20, 1861, in the presence of Francis Cavanagh & Ann ONiell. My next immediate step is to order their civil marriage record, that will hopefully tell me both his parents names. Who say's Church's don't respond! They only asked for $10, and I will double that, with a promise to give more if they find more baptisms. A Happy NYC researcher---------------------Dick Webber NC USA
