His wife was Melba Nell Mitchell; b. 11 July 1920, d. 23 Feb. 1999. Children are Robert E. McElroy, Charles T. McElroy, Sally McElroy Masters, Freddie Sue McElroy Lewis and Melba Lynn McElroy Lowman.
