Julie: Betty will probably answer you as she is very knowledgeable about the Muckleroys (McElroys, etc.) and the Felps/Phelps, but I will give you what I have. Aventon Felps/Phelps and wife Rachel Muckleduroy are my great-great+ grandparents and I have quite a bit of material on them I'll be glad to share. Much of it came from Ed Phelps and Edna Phelps, Rosalind Phelps Ward, Marlene Ricci, many others, and my own research, as well as Internet info. According to my records, John Muckelroy/McElroy was born in abt. 1690, lived in St. George's Parish in Hartford Co. or Baltimore Co., MD. He died after 1763 in NC. He married Frances - maybe Durham - before 1713 (?) in MD. Their children's births are registered in St. George's Parish (Episcopal Church), Hartford Co. (Baltimore Co.) MD, but it looks like they were all registered at once, so we can't be sure they were all born there. I It was the law that all births had to be recorded in the Parish where they lived. The children were: (1) Rachel, b. 7 Aug 1713; d. 23 Nov 1765 in NC; married Aventon Felps/Phelps 23 April 1730 in St. George's Parish (I have copy of this certificate) (2) John, b. 5 Dec 1715, d. 1760 in NC; m. Rebecca? (3) William, b. 23 Dec 1717, d. 1800 in Wilkes Co., Georgia; m. Ghaskey? (4) Archibald, b. 13 Feb 1718/19, d. 1760 in Johnson Co.(?), NC, m. Catherine Simpson ?. The children of Aventon and Rachel were: (1) Aquilla, b. abt 1731; d. abt 1788 in Rowan Co., NC; m. Sarah abt. 1750 (2) Lucretia, b. abt 1733; married (?)Loyd (widowed young) (3) John, b. abt. 1734, m. Mary Williams 1766 (4) Thomas Aventon (most records say Abner) b. abt 1735 in VA, d. abt 1794 in NC; m. Jane Smith 1765. (Much is published about his family.) (5) David, b. abt. 1736 (6) Aventon, Jr., b. abt. 1737 (7) Abigail, b. abt. 1738 in either VA or Rowan Co., NC; d. in Rowan Co., NC, married George Reed abt. 1757. This is my line. He died in 1784 in Rowan Co. They had 9 children (I have their names and some spouses) They lived on the Yadkin River on Reed's Bluff near Reed's Crossroads, NC. One of their buildings was still standing when I visited there in 1989, near Yadkin College. I don't know if it is still there or not.
