    3. I have a copy of newsletter that gives a pretty good list of the descendents of John and Francis. Do you have a fax number or mailing address that I can send a copy to you. I am working on a connection to the descendents of John and Francis. I believe my Simon McElroy b.1818 is the son of a William McElroy m. Mary Arnold of Oglethorpe Co. GA. Just having difficulties proving the connection. If you have information on that connection, I would be very thankful. I have been researching on the internet for family connections. Her father was a coalminer in Rockwood, Tn. I found a family tree in RootsWeb.com that has a Peter McElroy, born abt 1830 in Ireland. They have his wife listed as Mandy Huggins, born in tn. I found other references ( can't remember where) that her name was Amanda Wiggins. Our McElroys decend from Peter's son, Andrew and Andrew's son, George Thomas. I have Andrew, born in Polk Co. Tn. and died in Rockwood Tn. Andrew is supposed to be buried in the Glen Alice cemetery near Rockwood. I live nearby and plan on looking for his grave. I have searched Huggins and Wiggins with no luck. Your message is the first time I found Wamble. According to the tree I found, the family lived in Ducktown, Polk Co., Tn. before living in Rockwood. Cynthia

    3. The best I can do so far is based on an 1820 Oglethorpe or Green Co Georgia census. I do not have it front of me at the moment. As I recall the census that had William and Mary, listed their children by year of birth. The census indicated a son born at the same time as Zacariah and another son born 1817-18 same as my Simon. That is the best documented evidence I have to date. How's that? VA and the son of James McElroy/Sarah McCune we believe... However, there is mention earlier (1760's) of McElroys in Old Tryon Co. minutes - don't have a clue who they were - since the John McElroy of Prince Edward Co. was appearing in records there during that same time period. There was another John McElroy in Prince Edward Co. records - he had a wife named Mary... purchased land in Prince Edward Co. and then sold it (which is where his wife's name became known) in 1770's -- in the deed he and wife Mary are identified as "of Buckingham County" There are also records (Rev. War payments for goods/services) which show this was a totally different John McElroy - he appears in VA records during same time that the other John McElroy is appearing in Mecklenburg Co. records and census... I think somewhere along the way these two John McElroys and their descendants have been confused - though I am far from being able to document that theory... Hopefully one day soon I will have time to sit down and try and sort out some of the old NC records... LaVerne steveandlaverne@hotmail.com
