Are you by chance related to Julia Harper who must have married or had children by a Mcelroy, she was listed somewhere I can't recall where I got the information, you see, in the beginning i took such horrid notes. But there were four Mcelroy children living with her and they were listed as her sons and daughter, there names are Joanna, Labon, Maggie and Henry. I believe that Joanna was at one time married to a Walker. I think this information came from the Mississippi are but I am not sure.

My gggg-grandfather moved from Allegheny to Butler County, PA in 1798. When he died in 1815 his will listed the following children: Patrick, Ginny, Nancy (married James Rodgers, my ggg-grandparents), Charles, James, Catherine and Peggy. I have been trying to find out why History of Butler County by R. C. Brown & Co., on page 509, casually refers to Hugh as "a friend of Washington". To the best of my knowledge, he never lived in Virginia or served in the Revolutionary War. Does anyone have any facts or family stories to enlighten me?
I found at a thrift store a picture with the following taped on the back: "l. to r. J.R.'s great grandfather Matthew Stephen Elisha McElroy; grandmother Anna Belle McElroy Crouse; great grandmother Mary Elizabeth Bradley McElroy." Anna Belle is a young girl. I would love to get this picture to someone in this family line. Lori

Ron, Please disregard previous reply. I made a boo boo...looking at mail from two different lists at the same time. Sorry. Also, if you write to Marie concerning McElroys, she will be totally confused. Now, I'll try to wake up and see if I DO have anything that will help you. I reported that Mary "Polly" MACKELROY - daughter of Reuben McElroy/various spelling and Christiana Johnson, Birth: 19 Sep 1795, died in Texas married John APPLING. Now I am not sure. I have had a report that she married Hezakiah PARTIN. Does anyone know? Betty

Yes. She does have a sister, Rebecca, both daughers of Reuben and Christiana. Rebecca was born 19 Apr 1798, Clarke Co., GA. I don't have much on her. Oops - I sent too soon. ---- Polly, daughter of Reuben and Christiana McElroy (various spellings) was the granddaughter of William and Ghaskey Mackelroy and great granddaughter of John and Frances Mackelroy. I have 13 children for them and a good bit more, but nothing else on Polly other than her birth date. I will be glad to exchange information.
