I would like to get the McElroys back further on your family to see if they connect to my family. Could you send me the family group for William and Keziah? And back earlier if you have them? I sent the Henry descendants to you at your e-mail address. Barnett helped in writing the Brodie books. Just recently my mother has received a stack of papers on our McElroys. It turns out that my aunt (McElroy) had received letters from Mrs. Barnett. Do you know if she is still around and how I might contact her? If not, do you know any of her descedents that could be contacted? Thanks Lisa (tirey-butler.lisa@bcg.com)

Yes. I have them, but I have no connection for Archibald. Do you know his parents? I do have a couple of ancestral generations for Diana Jane. It is the pension file number you give when ordering their files from whereever they may be.
No. Just a list of 1812 soldiers. I have no idea what it means. Probably a file number. Sorry. He may be listed on the Military Records microfilm. They have one at LDS Salt Lake and at Clayton Library for Genealogical Research here in Houston. Betty, Do you have any more War of 1812 info on James than this? This is the first time that I've seen that "WC-6438" - do you know what that is exactly? I saw the posts on Listowners, too, and later Andrew explained that the URL was the preferred one because an earlier link would soon cease to connect properly. He wasn't actually saying that it was preferred for a specific search as a substitute for the search engine. Maryann, I've never quite understood the purpose of this "preferred" archives search. The messages only go back to March 2000 and you can only find what you are looking for if you remember the date, the subject line and the author...or have I really missed something over the years? I have found a much better way to search any mailing list archives to be the following rootsweb search engine. http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl You enter the mailing list name, then whatever keyword(s) you are searching for. This archives goes back to the beginning of the mailing list (McElroy-L began in 1999)and gives you the opportunity to pull up all messages that contain the keyword, which may be a related surname, location, author, etc. Marc ----- Original Message ----- From: <Mdmgen@aol.com> To: <MCELROY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: October 14, 2002 12:58 AM Subject: [MCELROY-L] Check out RootsWeb Mailing List Archives | This is the preferred address for the Rootsweb Archives. | | Click here: RootsWeb Mailing List Archives | http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ | | Maryann Dixon Moseby | List Admin. | | | ==== MCELROY Mailing List ==== | Remember it will help if you post in the subject line, the primary name, area of interest and dates, when making a query. I saw an exhibit for Sherman D. McElroy "Tex," (1871-1945) pioneer oil man from Arkansas and wondered who he was. I collected and did a search. He was the 3rd of 11 children of William and Mary C. McIlroy. They moved to Hood Co., TX and settled on a farm near tolar, ten miles west of Granberry. He married Kathryn Byrd.I did find that his grandfather was: a.. Name: Hammet Francis MCILROY Hon. a.. Sex: M a.. Birth: 09 MAR 1812 in Madison County, MO a.. Death: 08 FEB 1890 a.. Other information about him can be found in the Handbook of Texas on line. a.. a.. This is not my family. Just curiosity. Is this anyone's family? a.. a.. Betty
