YouWrote: This book sounds interesting. Does it talk about the immigrant, James McElroy, that came to America in 1729? Also his descendants through his son, Archibald? My line came to North Carolina and were John, John (Wesley?), James Jamison (all McElroys through Archibald. Thanks for telling us about this book. Sincerely, Dortha McElroy Greenlee It has the entire Archibald clan. It also tracks many others in Ky, Ohio, Pa, etc. It also includes some interesting biographies and other personal info such as property sales, armed services McElroys, marriages, etc. It makes for interesting reading.

Brian, Is there a Sarah mentioned who married James McKay in 1828? Thanks. Deb in Pgh Deb. The book is about 185 pages long with hundreds of references. If you know where they lived, or which county and state, I will try and find it for you. There is so much info, it may take a while to find.

Brian, Would the McElroy book that you mentioned happen to include McElroys from NC, GA, and AL? Lona It mentions some of the NC clan, David (Waynesville, NC, Henry from Lincoln Co., Col. Hugh Mcelroy, W. E. McElroy of Charlotte, to name a few. Most are fromPA, Ohio, and Kentucky. However, it noted that many of the Mcelroy were of the first to pioneer in NC. The book is about 180 pages long. It was written by a Rev. John Mcelroy from Lebanon, Ky., near my family home.

I recently found a book entitled "The Scotch-Irish McElroys in America 1717-1999AD. It includes several tribes and decendent info of many of the McElroys. I ordered it from Barnes and Noble. It's cost was around $40.00. It was quite interesting. It can be ordered on the internet at http://www.bn.com (item # 9780832826863) Brian McElroy

I was in contact quite some time ago with a man named Tom Ayres from Longview TX. He told me he was David Muckleroy's cousin and did copying from the book for him for people who wanted to purchase it . I did tell him what I needed and didn't hear again. I just found this page and find it a lot of help. Maps are so good to help picture migration patterns and areas in which our ancestors lived. Thank you Mr. McLeroy, I will try that. The closest family center to me is about 30 miles away, and their hours are sporatic (a VERY small center), but I will see what can be done. I do understand there is an index for the book, so hopefully I could find my ancestor which I have need of documentation for DAR fairly quickly. Thanks again-- Leslie Hill
Thank you very much--I will certainly check that out. Leslie Hill

Another option is that the book is also available on film from the LDS. You can get it from any FHC in your area. Good Luck with your research. Maryann Dixon MOseby
The Morman Family History Library (FHL) in Salt Lake City has a copy on the shelf and a copy on microfiche. You can go to the nearest LDS Family History Library to you and, for a small fee, request they send a microfich copy to that library on loan. For a little bit more, still less than $10, they will place a copy on permanent loan to that FHL. Then, you can view the contents during their open hours. It is a rather large book with a tremendous amount of data. I have a copy in the FHL in Clear Lake, on the southeast side of Houston.
