    1. Mrs. Andrew J. Swanson.
    2. rizerk
    3. Looking to make contact with descendant, or someone knowledgeable, about Mrs. Andrew J. Swanson. Would like to learn first name of Mrs. Swanson. I believe Mrs. Swanson was living at 1414 N. E. 74th Ave. in Portland, Oregon in 1946. She is listed as the informant on the death certificate of Mora McCune Rizer. Mora died 1 Nov 1946 in Portland. Mora was the dau. of John McCune and Margaret Oglebuy, and was the widow of Albert A. Rizer. She may have also been married prior to Albert Rizer. I believe Mrs. Andrew J. Swanson may have been either the daughter or step-daughter of Mora McCune Rizer. Mora Rizer may have also had a son, or grandson, named J. Gerald Duvail, also living in the Portland area in 1946. Thank you, Kathleen Rizer

    1. McCune's in Wapello Co. Iowa and Ohio
    2. Albert Richardson
    3. I am looking for information on a family of McCune's who were living in Ottumwa (WapelloCo.) Iowa in the 1870, 1880, and 1900 census. There was a grandmother, Eliza(Elizabeth) McCune, four daughters, Ann, Mary(May), Elizabeth,Ruth, three sons, William, John, and James and three grandsons James Dallas McCune, Louis (Lewis) McCune and Clyde McCune, It is unclear if the grandsons are brothers or cousins. The grandsons were all born in Iowa. Some of the children were born in Ireland and some were born in Ohio. According to the 1900 census the family members who immigrated from Ireland came in 1855. If anyone recognizes this family please contact me. James Dallas McCune, is my grandfather and as you can see I don't know who his parents were or who his grandfather was. I really need some help with this family!!! Thank you. Katie McCune Richardson bf140@gte.net

    1. Adam M. McCune
    2. Am looking for information on Adam M. McCune b. 1846 (?). He married Lucy M. Woodruff 15 Feb. 1869 in Linn County, Yellow Creek Twp, Missouri. The 1870 census show him as a laborer and her as a housewife and lists his place of birth as New York. The funeral record of his oldest son lists Adam's place of birth as Tennessee. Adam's age was listed as 24 years. He and Lucy had 3 children, 2 boys, Edward Hugh b. 24 Jan 1874, Arthur J. b. 24 Aug 1871 and one daughter Mary b. ?. At some point after the children were born he left his family and went "Back" to Austin City, MN according to family stories and was not heard from again. Supposedly he died in MN. Lucy's obit lists her as his widow but I can find nothing on him. Any help would be appreciated. His son Edward Hugh McCune was my great grandfather.

    1. 2 great grave finding websites!
    2. Beth Bond
    3. Hello all, If you are looking for ancestors and family graves, here are two great websites to help you! They are not mine, but I recommend them, and they are both free. I am sure some of you already know of these sites, but for those who do not here they are> 1st: Find A Grave: http://www.findagrave.com They have non-famous and famous people's graves, you can search for any name you want. Also a good thing to do is to add graves you know about in your family, so others can find them and perhaps you can find a cousin or more that way! And it adds to the database which has over 2.5 million people in it. I have added about 52 people so far myself. 2nd: Headstone Hunter: http://www.headstonehunter.com A wonderful idea for a site these peeple have had too! On here you can either place who you are looking for and what cemetery you know they are buried in, or if you do not know which cemetery you can still post. Also, they have 1500 or so volunteeers on there from all over who go out hunting for your ancestors tombstones! Check it out and see the various ways it can work. They have had many success stories and some of the volunteeers even take photos and e-mail them to you. I hope these sites help you! Beth suntanr2@worldnet.att.net

    1. Grace, Ethel McCune. Westmoreland Co., PA, 1890s
    2. Just found an old photo (probably about 1890s) of a young woman labeled Grace McCune. Possibly she is related to the Ethel (Fern?) McCune who married Thomas A. Russell in Westmoreland County 18 May 1912. I think that some of the McCunes were physicians in Westmoreland. Would like to exchange info on the McCunes and Russells. 1. Charles Meigs & Nancy Jane McCUNE, W. VA.
    2. Beth Bond
    3. Hello all, I have found ot more on Charles M. McCune whom I posted about not too long ago. He was the second of two sons born to Eliza & Robert McCune of Amelia Co., Va. I thought that after he left Virginia he had moved to Kentucky as he died there, but since receiving his death certificate I have found he was visiting a son in Ky. and was actually residing in West Va. So I checked some census records for West Va. and combined with my other info below is what I have so far. Let me know if you are related to any of his children, thank you. 1. Charles M. & Ashley McCUNE, VA., KY.
    2. Beth Bond
    3. Hello all, I have been looking for Charles Meigs McCune (b.1848) and his brother, Ashley Cooper McCune's (b.1845) descendants for awhile. I am not a McCune descendant, however, I am related to these fellows. Their mother, nee Elizabeth "Eliza" C. Walthall b.1805, was married first to, John Poland (1790-1841), and they were my 4th great-grandparents. They lived in Amelia County. Their daughter, Mary Poland (1825-1858) who married Thomas L. Warriner was my 3rd great-grandmother. This is the reason I would like very much to find their descendants as we have Eliza as a common ancestor. I do not know what happened to these men after the 1870 census when at least Charles was living with his mother. I did find a listing at Ancestry.com for a Charles M. McCune who died in Pike County, Kentucky in 1927, and he seemed the right age. If any of you are related to them or can help me with any info, I would really appreciate it! Thank you so much for taking the time to read all of this. Beth suntanr2@worldnet.att.net

    1. FYI - looking for an out of print book
    2. Jan Johnson
    3. Some of you may not be aware of one of the great services out there on the internet. I know I wasn't until recently. When you check with Amazon.com or Barnes and Nobel.com to see if they have a book listed for sale or can locate an out of print book for you, they go to places like those listed below, order them from the booksellers on these sites, then charge you what they have to pay to buy the book and have it mailed to them, plus their own cut - so-o-o-o, you can cut out the middle man and save yourself some money. Most of these sites allow you to list a book you want free of charge and they will notify you when they can match it up with a book someone has to sell. It may take a while, but eventually, nearly everything shows up on the web (as we all know). Anyway, if you're looking for a book, try checking these sites (listed in order of my preference in dealing with them): abebooks.com (the only 5 star site for this sort of thing) bibliofind.com alibris.com bookfinder.com There are lots of others, but these are the most popular. 3. Thanks, Tresa, but my Norton AntiVirus program scans for viruses, trojans, and worms in every email and every attachment I receive. So when I send a scanned image of a marriage license, death certificate, or birth record, to share it with another researcher on my line, I know that I'm not sending them something I wouldn't want to receive. Sometimes attachments are necessary, when you are acquiring documentation on your lines. Proof beats hearsay, every time.
