Am looking for information on Adam McCormack McCune. In the 1880 census Adam and Lucy are living in Lansing, Mower County, Minnesota with their children Arthur 8 b. MO, Edward 6 b. MO and Eva 3 b. MN. Adam's father Joseph, mother Nancy and older sister Sarah are also living in Lansing in the 1880 census. My info says that Adam died in Minnesota on 27 Apr 1885 and his father Joseph in May 1886. The story goes that Adam and his young family were living in Linn County, Missouri when he got sick and "went back to Austin, Minnesota" and died there. Lucy's obituary lists her as his widow but no date when he died. I would like to find out what happened to Adam and where he is buried. I have all kinds of information that I am willing to share on his descendents as Adam was my great greatgrandfather. Looking for additional information on the family of Lewis and Sarah McCune. Undocumented sources claim he was from Virginia, which is probably correct. The family was in Fayette County, PA possibly as early as 1800 which would lead me to believe he came with his parents and siblings, however, I have found nothing to substantiate this. This is strictly a heads up... **************** Yesterday, 10/24/01, one of our Social Studies teachers received a letter that was postmarked from Brooklyn, New York. The envelope was hand written and specifically addressed to this particular faculty member. This teacher assumed the letter was from a former student. Inside the envelope was a one (1) page pamphlet titled, Most Frequently Asked Questions About Islam. This teacher brought the letter to Ali's attention, and she in turn reported this information to the District Office. THE ENVELOPE DID NOT CONTAIN ANY OTHER INFORMATION OR SUBSTANCE. An e-mail was sent to our Social Studies Department regarding this incident with the thought that perhaps letters were being sent to Social Studies teachers. They were instructed not to open any envelopes that bear resemblance to the above mentioned item. As of today, 10/25/01, three (3) other teachers in that department and one of our Assistant Principals have received these envelopes. We are monitoring the situation closely and will keep you informed if further developments occur.

Hi List Samuel McCune Sr. was born 1772 in Ireland, and died July 17, 1829 in Bloom Twp Morgan Co. Fair Grace Cem. (Briggs Cem.) He married Sarah Briggs Bef. 1792 in Lancaster Co. pa. Daughter of John Briggs and Mary Brown. She was born November 25, 1770 in Lancaster Com pa. and died September 10, 1852 in Bloom Twp Morgan Co. Fair Grace Cem. Samuel and Sarah Briggs McCune had two children in Lancaster Co. Pa. before they moved to Ohio. They came to Ohio in the spring of 1797/8 together with Sarah's parents and siblings as well as Sarah's oldest sister Jane Briggs Finley's family. The party came down the Ohio River on a flatboat to Marietta Ohio where they stayed initially at the home of Colonel DuVall. They then traveled up the Muskingum River, settling first on Lands on the east bank of the Muskingum River about one mile below Duncan Falls. Samuel McCune moved around the present area of Muskingum Co. and Morgan Counties before finally settling in Morgan Co. 1812 Lived on a farm in present day Malta twp, Morgan Co. where daughter Nancy was born. By 1886, the farm was occupied by the Morgan County Children's home. The home was destroyed by the 1913 flood. 1816 Moved to Salt Creek twp Muskingum Co. and built a saw and grist mill, later known as burnt Mill, on the Big Salt Creek, near where the B.O. & C. railroad was later located. 1818 Moved to Bloom twp Morgan Co. where he purchased four quarter sections of land in section 3, there was no road from the Farm to McConnelsville 9 miles away, only a blazed path through dense woods that was traveled by horseback.
