The name McCormick comes from the Latin Cormagus, who was a favorite charioteer of Caesar in 11 A.D. He was granted lands and titles and it is from him that we originally came from. It is unclear whether we originated in Scotland or Ireland, but were known to be in both.In the 16th century, McCormicks of Scotland, around Mull, went to Ireland under the Ulster Plantation laws. It is said that Cormack was a Primary King of Ireland until his death at the hand of an invading Viking in the 16th century . Shortly thereafter, the Irish abandoned the monarchy.
