    3. Hi Justine We had contact a while back about our McCormicks but came up with no connection. I was interested in seeing you had a deed with Dooley on it. Our James McCormick was born in Longford Ireland in 1835 and went to America with his parents Margaret and Edward McCormick/McCormac in 1841, they settled in Albany NY. They were in Cohoes in 1860 James married Mary Dooley, who was born in Albany but her family had moved to Jersey City and thats where they married in 1869 in St Peters Church. Marys parents were Edward and Mary, they all Dooleys and McCormicks lived on Wayne Street Jersey City until 1880 when Edward died as a result of a fall and then they all moved back to Albany. They are all buried in Albany Rural, Mary Dooley is in with the Mc Cormicks. I would love to know what deeds you have with a Dooley /McCormick Connedtion I am living back home in Ireland now and would love to get to the point where I can go and look at graves here. Thanks for your time on this Slainte Yvonne Mahar

    3. Hi Slainte, Visited Ireland a few years ago. Had a great time. The Dooley I mentioned was written on the back of a deed of a Duner who was connected to the Carroll and Carley (my line). My gm Mary Carley McCormick was born (abt 1870-73)in Jersey City. Her parents were Thomas & Margaret Carley and had three children. Her mother Margaret was a widow in 1880 census with James, John & Mary living on Morgan St. in Jersey City. I don't know where James was buried but his name in written on back of deed by someone in the family years ago. The Carley and McCormick are buried in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City and outsider Sam in Arlington, NJ cemetery not being Catholic. John Raymond and Vincent Joseph 1897-1957, my father also buried in same cemetery being Catholic. Interesting thing about this deed. Mary's bother My uncle John was buried 1928 in this Carley plot as was my Uncle Earl Francis McCormick 1932 being youngest son of Sam & Mary. When GM Mary died in 1943 they wouldn't open the grave for someone had picked up the title between these 11 years. Interesting that you mentioned Wayne St. I found census with McCormick's living on Wayne St. years ago but didn't think we were connected. I grew up a few streets from Wayne on Montgomery St where my grandparents also lived. They moved to Summit/Room Sts. after Earl Died and also found some McCormick's in that area at the time. When Poppa died my Uncle John Raymond 1899 (who never married and supported them) moved to 33 Wayne St. until his death in 1985. Margaret worked as a house keeper in St. Peters Rectory to support the children. I have not been able to find a marriage certificate on Mary & Samuel McCormick my grandparents. Think they were treated like they had the plague when they married out of Catholic. My gf was a son of a Methodist Episcopal Minister of Newark, NJ. Poppa Sam's mother died when his was young (Josephine Force McC) and he went to live with his sister Adeline McCormick Bowden who had one daughter Josephine Bowden Ogden. The Ogden's had a transport business that Sam worked at when a young man. Hope this helps. Forgot to mention their was a beautiful very large headstone behind my Uncles that had Dooley on it but not one name. Wondering if it was brought when they purchased the plot but never used.
