Was that the Town of Wallkill (township - in Orange County) or the Hamlet of Wallkill (village in the Town of Shawangunk, Ulster County)? They are only about 25 miles apart. I have McCormick's in my line, but they came from VA/MD to Ohio about 1830. I currently live in Orange County. The time frame would be before 1800 so I would think it is the township of Walkill. I am trying to track a James McCormick who is enumerated in Walkill, 1790. My James died in Phelps NY 1819. Am trying to eliminate this James as a "possible" so am wondering if anyone has done research on him.
