I would greatly appreciate a copy of the article. My Great Great Grandmother was Mary Anne (later Marian) McCormick, probably born in Dublin from a couple of census, but also shown in the last before she died(1881) as born in Scotland. Her father was Michael McCormick. Mary Anne married Amourer Sgt. John Brophy of the 8th Foot in the early 1840's. They had a daughter Catherine Pryscilla born in Portsmouth 1845, just before the regiment sailed for India. Another child, John, was born in 1848 baptised in Poona, India. Sgt. John Brophy died in Poona in October 1848. Marian then married Sgt. John Coates of the 32nd Regiment in 1849. They returned to England with the Regiment in 1855. I have been trying to trace the birthplace of Sgt. John Brophy and Mary Anne McCormick for many years, and wonder if anyone has any information on either of them.
