I am looking for information about my grandfather, Michael McCormac who became Milton/Michael McCormick after the Civil War. He was born Dec. 13, 1849. In applying for a Civil War pension, his letter stated he was born in Ireland, mother died when 8 months old, father died in St. Louis in 1857, and he was sent to live with John S. Gregg, Belmont, Ohio and left there at age 16 to join the Union Army. However, in a 1900 census, he states his father was born in PA, mother in Ohio and he was born in Napoleon, Ohio. That town has no birth record of Michael/Milton. I would like to find out where he was born and the names of his parents. He served in Co. G, 174th Regiment of the Ohio Infantry, went to Kansas City in 1866 and to Hutchinson, Kansas in 1874 where he joined the Grand Temple and then to Nickerson, Kansas in 1888 or earlier as he married Katura Mae Reed Oct. 18, 1881. He died July 6 or 7, 1925. With all this information I still can not find out the names of his parents. Any help would be appreciated. Patricia Jacobsen (jacopat@sbcglobal.net
