I descend from their daughter Mary, who married David Christopher. I found your query after finding out a lot more about Nelson and Catherine A. (Bolsinger) McCormick. Would you like to exchange info? I am working with Richard Bolsinger and Ralph Beckett, who are also descendants. Best wishes, Mrs. Pat Bristley 412 S. Thank you for your reply. Bernard was born in MD - probably across the Potomac from Loudoun County. And from his age in the 1850 census, both he and his wife (Isabella Vanander - VA) were born about 1795. You have lots of the same first names in your line but don't think they are connected in any way. My McCormic and McCormick's are from Morris and Essex Co. that I can trace back to 1828 when Hiram George Mc married Ginnette Munroe (both born NY) in Morris Co. NJ. First son William Henry had a daughter Sarah. Answering this because of the name in our line Bernard who we think is the father of Hiram who was born in 1804. We have two Bernard's in Essex time in the time frame of 1750 to 1860. One Bernard married into Sanford family of this area. In the 1860 census for Meigs County, OH there are the following McCormick males (HOH): John G - 29 - born in OH - Salisbury (daughter Isabella) James - 30 - born in OH - Salisbury E P - 40 - born VA - Rutland John - 30 - born VA - Rutland G A - 30 - born VA - Rutland H C - 26 - born VA - Rutland R E - 40 - born OH - Syracuse GA is George Albert, and HC is Henry Clay - they are brothers. I believe their parents are Bernard and Isabella McCormick who were in Monroe County in 1840 and Grandview, Washington County in 1850. They moved from Loudoun County, VA to Monroe County, OH abt 1835. I believe that E P is actually T B (Thomas Bernard), another brother. In 1850 George was living with Thomas. Transcribed as "McConnic" but could easily be McCormic. Thomas' wife was Sarah and they had a son William, and his occupation was taylor - these fit with E P's information (EP ? TB - could the census taker misunderstood?) From the 1830 census (VA), 1840 (OH) and 1850 (OH) - Bernard and Isabella might have had as many as 16 children. Also, Isabella's father was Thomas. In 1850, two daughters, Sarah and Matilda were still living at home. Anyone have any information/connections on the McCormicks in Meigs County? It is possible that George and Henry are the only ones that stayed in Meigs. I believe that Thomas moved on to Indiana. Any help, suggestions, leads would be greatly apprecaited. I was going through these records and found a John McCormick from Ireland; not my family, but I thought it might be a help to someone on the list. These 1880's records from the city asylum are very interesting ... but, most of them are, also, very sad. Nancy City Archives, New Orleans Public Library New Orleans City Insane Asylum Record of Patients, 1882-1884; 1888 John McCormick, Chronic Mania, May 1st, 1882 – M – W – 63 yrs old – Entered March 18th, 1869 – Native of Ireland – Widower – Kind of Insanity on day of admission – Hallucination; today (blank-no entry). P 72 Normal; Pupils Normal; Answers and speaks very rationally to all questions asked – knows not however where he was born – Gives a correct version of his age, trade, etc. Speaks very rationally, shows no sign of insanity, but insists that it is better to leave him here. He is a painter by trade. http://www.nutrias.org/~nopl/inv/cityinsaneasylum1_50.htm Nancy, www.thepastwhispers.com
