Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UVz.2ACEB/1408.1 Message Board Post: Hi Robert, Have you ever found a connection to a Alexander McCormick born 1824 Ireland, married to Margaret by 1850? They came to the US about the same time as your Samuel and lived in the same general area. Their children were: Henry, Alexander, Charles, George, John, Samuel, and Elizabeth. I'm searching for a living McCormick relative if possible or anything to add to the tree. George and Samuel died young and are buried next to their parents in Smith Cemetery, Kimball Twp, St. Clair County, MI Charles married Cora Hubble. Alexander Jr. married Sarah McKenzie I can't find for sure anything on Henry. I'm thinking he may actually be Alexander Henry and not a separate person. I can't find for sure anything on John. Possibly living in Detroit in 1900. Elizabeth married Augustus Kleist and lived and died in Fargo, ND. A grandson of Augustus and Elizabeth lives in Pennsylvania. I'm searching for him. I believe most, if not all the McCormicks that lived in the St. Clair County area were related somehow.

    3. Several McCormicks from Maryland make their home in 1870 in Wyandot Co. Ohio (Upper Sandusky). My McCormicks moved from Wyandot Co to Jackson Co in about 1855 though my gg-grandfather, Louis Hezekiah McCormick, lived with his maternal grandparents in Wyandot Co in 1860 (Reuben and Jane Savidge). You might find some information by tracing some of those lines. For instance, there is an Alexander in the family of James and Barbara McCormick who make their home in Wyandot Co., Crane Twp in 1860. He is age 24 at that time but could have been named for an uncle. mmacmurph@aol.com wrote: Message Board Post: Correction/update since my Jan.2000 post on Alexander MCCORMICK. 1- Federal Census (Ohio) in 1850 has spelling as MACOERNICK, Alexander. 2- 1880 Census has birthplace as Maryland. 3- parents who's birthplace is IRE, but were in Maryland in 1793, Alexander's birthyear. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Still have not located Alex m. Ann RANKIN of Uniontown, Fayette, PA in 1815 and moved same year to Belmont Co. OH, where Alexander died in 1865. No siblings known. 3. There is no death certificate on JOHN EDWARD but his brother's (NICOLAS) death certificate stated his father as James and mother Johanna Flynn. I haven't been able to connect with any other McCormacks in the US except the ones in Louisville and not sure about those. I have not been able to find any information in Canada and John Edward was married there and his first two sons were born Toronto. Was there any kind of work project around Toronto or PEI in the early 1850, that would intice workers to that area. I have also looked for Gleeson's in that area with not much luck. Thanks Jane ----- Original Message ----- From: <mikemccormick@northwestel.net> To: <mccormick@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 24, 2006 8:32 PM Subject: Re: McCormick - S. 2. Have you tried searching the 1851 Census of Canada? This would be fairly time-consuming, since it isn't indexed yet. You can view it at: http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/1851/index-e.html Alternatively, there is the Upper Canada and Canada West Naturalization Records at: http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/naturalization/index-e.html There is also the Upper and Lower Canada Marriage Bonds at: http://www.collectionscanada.ca/genealogy/012/index-e.html You could also try the Dictionary of Canadian Biography online at: http://www.biographi.ca/EN/index.html Finally, there are the online city and provincial/area directories at: http://www.collectionscanada.ca/canadiandirectories/022009-100.01-e.php ----- Original Message ----- From: Jane Sawyer <jpsawyer40@bellsouth.net> Date: Sunday, September 24, 2006 9:23 pm Subject: Re: McCormick - S.
