There was a James McCormick b. 1754 in Cumberland Co., Pa. son of Samuel McCormick and married to Elizabeth Gregory. James came to Nicholas Co., Ky. (then Bourbon Co.) in 1790 and settled on Hinkston Cr. His son Walter b. 1793 married Eleanor Rannels and son Ralph b. 1797 md. Nancy Rannels 1830 in Bourbon Co. Both Walter and Ralph migrated to Morgon Co., Illinois. Based on the Shane Papers it appears that Eleanor and Nancy were daughters of a William Rannels who came to Bourbon Co. in 1803 from Washington Co., Pa.--previously from Frederick Co., Va. Also, in the Shane Papers there is shown a David A. Rannels (apparently a brother of David) who had a daughter named Sarah who apparantly md. a Wm. B. Posey and lived in Jacksonville, Illinois. No direct connections but hopefully it will provide some clues. My McCormick line: James McCormick died 1819 in Junius NY. His son, William, was in Catherine NY in 1800. I know there was a William McCormick in Northampton Co. PA in 1800 also. William Mc Cormick married Jane Linn. I am trying to connect these families to NJ McCormicks/Linns but will settle for any origins for them. Any connections? I have researched some of the Waverly/Morganfield records, and visited cemeteries. It struck me as interesting the close proximity of these McCormicks to the clan living in Henderson. Henderson has a McCormick Cemetery. Have you found any connection between these groups? It goes farther in both directions: "Please leave your name here : Jeff McCormick "and your email address here : mc@ravenson.com "Your connection to White House Farm? : My Father Jeremiahs Father was O.T. McCormick. His Father was Owen Thomas McCormick 2... His Father was Owen Thomas McCormick whose Father was Richard McCormick whose Father was John son of Dr John McCormick."
