    3. Hi, I have William McCormick born Inch Wigtownshire, 1793. He married Mary McAdam. Their son James McCormick married Mary Phillips, they lived in Kirkinner Wigtownshire. I have been wondering whether any of them emigrated to the US, I know Williams grandson Robert emigrated to Australia. Any link we have woull be really interesting ot know about. I do have a John T McCormick that married the mother of my Aunt Edith McElroy in Texas. He was born in MO and his parents were born in Illinois. 3. I would greatly appreciate a copy of the article. My Great Great Grandmother was Mary Anne (later Marian) McCormick, probably born in Dublin from a couple of census, but also shown in the last before she died(1881) as born in Scotland. Her father was Michael McCormick. Mary Anne married Amourer Sgt. John Brophy of the 8th Foot in the early 1840's. They had a daughter Catherine Pryscilla born in Portsmouth 1845, just before the regiment sailed for India. Another child, John, was born in 1848 baptised in Poona, India. Sgt. John Brophy died in Poona in October 1848. Marian then married Sgt. John Coates of the 32nd Regiment in 1849. They returned to England with the Regiment in 1855. I have been trying to trace the birthplace of Sgt. John Brophy and Mary Anne McCormick for many years, and wonder if anyone has any information on either of them. I have also been unable to trace Catherine Pryscilla after 1848. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Daphne Forder, Adelaide, Australia.

Author: samciv1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mccormick/1263.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I just came across your query; I grew up in Panama, New York, and do get to that area once a year; I'm not sure which cemetery your ancestor may be buried in, but the one my parents are in is called Open Meadows Cemetery, near Chautauqua, Stedman, outer part of North Harmony. There are 1 or 2 cemeteries in Panama also. Would be glad to see what info I could find for you if still looking. McCormick name does not ring a bell with me, as often family names were associated with a certain area. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
