The deceased is well known, having been the proprietor of a hotel on South Mill street for a number of years. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Bert Williams, Mrs. Homer Schemthore, G. T. Briggan, and Norman, Carghil, Helen and Meldon Henry, all of this city. The following brothers also survive him: F. E. and J. H. of this city, S. B. of Plaingrove, and M. P. of Portersville. BUTLER CITIZEN; August 19, 1914 WILLIAM H. McCONNELL William H. McConnell, aged 45, proprietor of the New Castle Hotel, South Mill stret, died Monday August 17, following and illness from a complication of diseases. The deceased was a native of Portersville, Butler county and the son of Benoni and Mary Ann English McConnell. He leaves the following children, Mrs. Bert Williams, Mrs. Homer Schmerhorne, and Mrs. G. T. Briggam, New Castle, Norman, Cargill, Helen, and Meldon Henry McConnell. His mother is living also as well as these brothers, F. E. and J. H. McConnell of New Castle, S. B. of Plaingrove and N. P. of Portersville. Mr. McConnell was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at his residence and interment will be made in Oak Park Cemetery [New Castle, PA]. NOTE: His wife was Margaret May (Gardner) McConnell. His children were: Ethel Alfretta [Mrs. Herbert Williams]; Elizabeth "Bessie" May [Mrs. Homer Schemerhorn]; Sophia [Mrs. S. G. Briggam]; William Norman; Cargil Gibson; Helen; Meldon Henry. His brothers were: Findley Essington McConnell, James Homer McConnell, Stewart Benoni McConnell, Norman Presley McConnell, (and his sister Elizabeth Nancy McConnell Book d. 1904.)
