May 1, 1918 p.6 MRS. MARY A. McCONNELL Mrs. Mary A. McConnell Gibson, aged 84, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her son, F. E. McConnell of Moravia road. Mrs. McConnell leaves two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Dodds of Adamsville, PA, and Mrs. Margaret Dodds of Tarkio MO; for sons, F. E. McConnell, Momer, McConnell of this city; Stewart McConnell of Plaingrove, and Norman McConnell of Portersville; two brothers, John M. and William English and three step-children. Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock this afternoon at the home of her son, F. E. McConnell; with the Rev. E. A. Crooks of the Reformed Presbyterian church in charge. Burial will be in the Portersville cemetery. NOTE: Mary Ann was the daughter of James & Elizabeth Gourley (Stewart) English of Portersville, PA. Her first husband was Benoni McConnell and they had children: Findley Essington, James Homer, Stewart Benoni, Elizabeth Nancy (m. Eslie Book), Norman Presley, William Henry. After Ben's death she married John Gibson and was widowed again. The women mentioned in the obituary are her sisters, not her daughters. Her siblings were: Samuel Stewart English, Margaret E. English (Mrs. Alexander P. Dodds), James Robert English, Nancy Elizabeth English (Mrs. William B. Dodds); half-brothers were: John Montgomery English, William C. English and Murray Erskine English.
