E. L. BOOK Mrs. Elizabeth Book, wife of Esli Book of Slipperyrock township, passed away at the family residence Monday morning at ten o'clock from puerperal fever. The death of this lady was totally unexpected and it was a great shock to the community when it was announced. The deceased was a member of the Oak Grove United Presbyterian Church at Slipperyrock (township) and was one of its best supporters. She was a good woman and always endeavored to do what was right. She was 40 years of age and was born in Butler county. Deceased has lived in this section all of her life and was one of the best known women in Lawrence Co [PA]. Besides a mother, Mrs. John Gibson, of Slipperyrock [township] and a husband, she leaves the following children: Ethel, Nellie, Ida, Norman, Nancy and a week old babe. Five brothers also survive her. They ae F. E. McConnell of Eastbrook, Homer McConnell of this city, S. B. McConnell of Plaingrove; Norman of Castle Rock, Washington, and William of this city. NOTE: Elizabeth Nancy McConnell Book was the d/o Benoni and Mary Ann (English) McConnell. Lizzie was born in 1863 and died Nov. 13, 1903. John Gibson was the second husband of Mary Ann (English) McConnell. FYI: Lawrence Co. PA has a township called "Slipperyrock Twp." Butler Co. PA has a town called "Slippery Rock" as well as a township by that name. There is also a river called "Slippery Rock Creek" that flows through a state park called "McConnell's Mills."
