W. H. McCONNELL CALLED BY DEATH Well Known South Side Woman Succumbs to Attack of Grip and Complications. Mrs. Margaret McConnell died at her residence 632 South Mill street, after an illness of a week, due to grip, which developed into complications. She was the widow of W. H. McConnell whose death occurred just 18 months ago. Mrs. McConnell was 45 years of age, and had been a lifelong resident of this city, having been born here, and having spent all her life in New Castle. She was a faithful member of the Reformed Presbyterian church, and was a woman of many excellent traits of character, which had won her the respect and friendship of all whom she met. She leaves the following children: Mrs. H. B. Williams of this city, Mrs. Jessie Shermerhorn at home, Mrs. G. T. Brigham of this city, and Norman, Cargill, Helen and Meldon at home. Her mother, Mrs. Sophia Gardner of 113 Quest street, survives also, with the following brothers and sisters: Miss Flora Gardner, Mrs. J. T. Allen, C. R., E. C. and A. C. Gardner, all of this city. Her aged mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Gibson, made her home with Mrs. McConnell. Arrangements for the funeral have not been completed, and will be announced later. NEW CASTLE NEWS; Feb. 11, 1916 p.19 Mrs. McConnell Buried The funeral of Mrs. Margaret McConnell widow of W. H. McConnell, was held at the family home at New Castle hotel Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and was attended by many sorrowing friends and relatives. Rev. S. J. Johnson, pastor of the Reformed Presbyterian church conducted the services and a quartet from the church sang. The remains were laid to rest in Oak Park cemetery and the pallbearers were relatives of the deceased. NOTE: Her late husband was William Henry McConnell. Her children were: Ethel, Mrs. Herbert B. Williams; Elizabeth "Bessie", Mrs. Homer Schemerhorn; Sophia, Mrs. S. G. Briggam/Brigham; William, Cargill, Helen & Meldon. Her parents were Alexander and Sophia (Rapp) Gardner. Her mother-in-law, Mary Gibson, was Mary Ann English widow of Benoni McConnell and John Gibson. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
