Joan, Have you looked for your McConnell who was born in Glasgow in the census records for Scotland? Or in the vital records available at scotlandspeople.com? (or is it .org.....I forget) Depending on his birth date, you may find him in one or more census reports. The church he attended may also be able to give you some information. Even if the church is not in existence now, the records will be kept somewhere.....if not in another church, then at the regional headquarters. It took me some time to track down the records for my grandfather's family but it was well worth it. The baptismal records for the children had the birth place of the parents.
