His children were Charles(1867)& Frank (1870). His father was also from Washington, PA. Most of the McConnells I have come across originated in PA around Pittsburgh. You might start there with your search for your Charles. It is a huge clan. I wouldn't be surprised if all USA McConnells started in PA.
