Author: ksaxe Surnames: McConnelly, McConnelle, McConnell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mcconnell/2516.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: It's very interesting to me to see the name McConnelle associated with a NY state location, because I have wondered if my northwestern NJ McConnell family was connected in any way to any of the McConnell families which were in Orange County, NY and that were listed with a similar name like McConnelly in one or more records. Researchers of these families trace their lines back within this country to an earlier date than 1773, so it would be a line with a different immigrant ancestor than your line, but I wonder about an earlier connection. Another reason that the name McConnelly interests me is that there is at least one record of a Dennis McConnelly (or similar spelling) in NJ about 10 years before the birth of my earliest known McConnell ancestor, Dennis McConnell. The location within the state doesn't match, but the family may have moved. I'm not sure where one might find more records of this Dennis McConnelly, who lived in a more southerly portion of the state, Gloucester County. I've never done any research there. If you want to try to get in touch with any researchers of the Orange County families, I could forward a message for you. With luck, one of them will see your post here anyway.
