Hi- Earlier this month someone posted a spam message to the McConnell board (and many others) that ended up being gatewayed to the list. I believe you then quoted the spam in a reply on the list stating that it was spam. This merely ended up sending the spam back to the list again (in your quote). RootsWeb staff is most likely in the process of removing the spam posts from the many lists to which it was copied. In that process they would have completed a removal request form and then completed the process internally. However, when the removal process is triggered it generates a confirmation email to the person who posted the message (because other than cases of staff removals only a poster can remove his own posts)--which is why you received that email. Since staff was completing the removal manually you need not take any action--just delete the email. In the future, should you see spam make it's way to the list via the gateway from the board it is best not to comment on it on the list--or if you feel you must--do NOT quote the spam in your reply. Rest assured that I'll take care of deleting it from the board as I had done already in this case. Thanks! Joan, admin McConnell@rootsweb.com In a message dated 5/20/2008 11:02:47 A.M. I couldn't locate the message that was to be deleted ? the link goes to the archived messages (lots of them) just a head's up on this note. **************Wondering what's for Dinner Tonight? Okay, that explains the note. I had forgot about the note on the spam message. the link went to the message archives & I had no idea which note it could have been. Thanks for your help.
